FAQ
What is Artisan Insurance?
Artisan Insurance is developed for Canadian Artisans who are in the business of making self-care products like handcrafted soaps, cosmetics, lotions, perfume, scrubs, and more. This coverage package extends to costumes, jewelry, and essential oils products that are appealing and widely purchased in the self-care community.
Why do I need Artisan Insurance?
In the self-care industry, you need to protect yourself against all odds as the producer and seller of products. As a maker of self-care products, you leave yourself open to a multitude of risks like property damage or bodily injury caused by your product. With products of such sensitive nature, taking chances and leaving yourself exposed to uncovered perils can ruin your small business. Obtaining comprehensive coverage allows you to have peace of mind knowing that you have a team of experts to find a resolution to your crises.
Furthermore, it is ideal that you obtain a policy since it demonstrates your willingness to be proactive and responsible for the products you offer to the public. It also opens up opportunities for business opportunities locally, within Canada, and globally, as there are many retailers that will not carry your product unless you have insurance.
What does Artisan Insurance cover?
Artisan Insurance covers a broad spectrum of relevant things to your handcrafted products. The following are available for you to include in your policy, such as:
- Commercial General Liability (CGL): Get up to $5M CGL coverage for your business operations against cases of liability claims or lawsuits resulting from bodily and personal injury and property damage on your premise. CGL also covers Product Liability and bodily injury and property damage caused by your products, which is an essential coverage as a home-based maker.
- E&O Extension Limits: E&O, also known as Errors and Omission or Professional Liability, offers protection if your client sues you for your advice regarding what products to use for a particular condition or if they have an allergic reaction. Get extended E&O coverage up to $500,000.
- Business Contents: As an artisan, you need your tool to create your handcrafted lotions, jewellery, and other products. Protect your furniture, equipment, and other office contents from fire, theft, and other covered perils.
- Endorsements: Need to make alterations to your coverage terms? Get endorsements such as products compliance warranty, beauty products endorsement, USA jurisdiction endorsements, and more.
